Lens Implants to Restore and Improve Your Vision

Refractive lens exchange (RLE) is a procedure that removes and replaces your crystalline lens with an intraocular lens (IOL) implant.

Lens implants can be single vision for distance or multifocal (similar to a multifocal contact lens) for improvement of both distance and near vision. In fact, given our objective of full spectrum treatment and care, Green Bay Eye Clinic offers several different RLE lens options, including the Aspheric ReStor®, ReZoom® and Crystalens.

The RLE procedure has been developed and tested to a high level of precision for patients who have cataracts; however, the procedure is also routinely performed to reduce your need for glasses and contact lenses on an elective basis.

A Life-Changing Procedure for Nearsightedness, Farsightedness & Cataracts

Most candidates for RLE are in their late 40’s or older, are farsighted or nearsighted, may have cataracts starting to develop and are typically beyond the range of more conservative procedures. RLE is more technically and surgically involved than the other options available, so for safety reasons, as well as the need for a highly sterile operating environment, the procedure is performed in a hospital or surgery center, as opposed to one of our clinic’s surgical suites.
